Jordyn Egan

Upon graduation from the RTIP, Jordyn was accepted into the prestigious Darley (now Godolphin) Flying Start Program. In August 2007, she joined 11 other trainees from across the globe to start a life-changing two-year adventure. Jordyn was exposed to all facets of the thoroughbred industry in Ireland, England, Australia, New Zealand, Kentucky and Dubai. She spent time doing everything from breaking yearlings to learning how to pull a shoe. In Dubai, she shadowed the stewards at the races.  She also completed university courses in equine anatomy in Dublin, nutrition in Lexington, and hospitality in Dubai.

Currently, Jordyn works as director of special projects for the Maryland Horse Breeders Association. She primarily works in an event management/promotional role for the Maryland Horse Breeders Association. In addition to the MHBA special projects, she is the development director of the Maryland Horse Industry Foundation (the MHBA's charitable arm) and has developed educational programs targeted at bringing equine-inclined youth into the industry. The MHBA staff also doubles as the Maryland Million Ltd staff, so during the summer and fall, much of her time is is focused on the production of Jim McKay Maryland Million Day. When asked about her career Jordyn stated, "Safe to say, this is a job that I could have never dreamed of, but I love it! Each day is different and I’m able to spend time on many things that I’m passionate about. Much of what I do today stems from my experience at the RTIP and my belief in educational programs that give young people an opportunity to get in the door of the thoroughbred industry."
