Pete Aiello

Pete came to the RTIP with little experience outside that of a fan attending the races at Hialeah Race Track in Florida. And a true fan he was.  As a kid, he would sit in front of a horse racing computer game and announce races as they played out, honing his announcing skills at a very young age. When Pete read an advertisement in the DRF about The University of Arizona's RTIP, he knew exactly where he wanted to go and decided the best way to convey the passion he has for the sport was to become a track announcer. During his time at the RTIP, Pete gained valuable experience through a summer internship at Finger Lakes where he announced his first full card.  While in Arizona, he also met his mentor, track announcer and RTIP alum, Luke Kruytbosch, who greatly aided Pete on his career path.

After graduation in 2007, Pete took over as track announcer at River Downs in Ohio. In 2010, in addition to the summers in Ohio, Pete began working winters at newly reopened Hialeah Race Track where he began by writing press releases and eventually became track announcer and director of simulcasting. In 2013, River Downs closed, and Pete began announcing summer racing at Gulfstream Park. This led to a position at Oaklawn for one season, after which, Aiello returned to Gulfstream full time to take over for Larry Collmus. In 2017, Pete not only did the on-track call for the inaugural Pegasus World Cup, but his was the voice of the live NBC call as well.
